There is no exact "ideal" head or type in the arab industry and it has been a debate for over 50 years. You can't take something out of a magazine or book that someone claims is "ideal". There are fads, personal preference and it's gotten even more political since the new halter scoring card. The judges are even trying to figure it out and how to judge with it. I love being involved with a breed where there is so many different types of standards and horses that can compete in just about everything.

There are egyptian arabians, polish arabians, horses that do well in Europe but not in the US. There are horses that can show win Canadian Nationals but never be competitive enough for US Nationals. They are all a different type and everyone has an opinion on which is correct. For example, the Egyptian Event is a separate show. They prefer a different bloodline and a different type.

I have also seen a certain trainer win a halter class with the plainest head in the class - just because of who he was.

For me personally- I want them to look like an Arabian. I like large eyes and a dishy head. I want a nice, hookey neck that bridles over like only Arabians can. My ideal? I guess I don't have one. It depends. I think "Star of Marc" is the most beautiful weanling I have ever seen. I don't dare post a picture here as in the past it because an "ewwweeee I hate that artificial-looking-they-can't-breathe-right thead"
