My first thought (if he doesn't mind an older horse) is Treadway here. He's amazing. (I'm biased, just rode him earlier today). I'm not actually sure if he's ever gone western though, but he's definitely a good ride. Percheron Cross, fleabitten grey, still has plenty of get up and go. 15.3 hands

My second thought, and he might actually work better for your hubby if you don't mind putting some training into him is Vegas. (horse at the top of the page here, he doesn't have his own page yet: http://gentlegiantsdrafth....com/Availablehorses.html ). Belgian/QH cross. Very very kind with amazing ground manners. 7 yrs old but he's still kinda green. He does, however, go western (or at least, the GG folks are riding him in a western saddle ). Also about 15.3 hands. I like him a lot.

Well, I like both of them a lot.

I don't, (disclaimer!) actually represent Gentle Giants, but I do volunteer there and you said East Coast and they are in Maryland so.....

Good luck finding a horse!
