When I was a kid - I really just wanted a horse...any horse. My heart ached for a horse. My parents said I could have one when I could buy one myself. They paid for lessons (twice per week through college), but a horse would arrive when I could buy one myself.

Not to worry - Santa was my ace-in-the-hole! He knew how good I had been - and he knew the perfect horse for me! Every year I'd run downstairs, run past the Christmas tree and gifts, and out to the garage - the ONLY sensible place Santa would leave my horse! Each year I hid my disappointment as I opened my other gifts: Breyer horses, Walter Farley & Margaret Henry books, horse calendars, horse clothing, and horse EVERYTHING...but no horse.

The day after graduation, I bought myself a really nice, Morgan gelding (see my sig below - chestnut, no white). He WAS a dream come true - and I loved him so much! He would have been 32 this month.

After college, and, really, still today, my dream horse was a Hackney Pony - Cobtail, please! I don't want your common hackney pony....I want a pony that trots THAT high! And I want all the nice harness and cart that goes with such a fine pony. I don't care if it's mean, high strung, and crazy if it can look good trotting around the arena in front of an audience and a judge.

But, that being said, I would not want that to be my only horse - I love my safe, sane, FUN, and somewhat chubby Fjord. In so many ways - too long to post here - he is another dream come true. He will grow old with me.

This has been a fun thread - I've enjoyed reading about everyones' dreams! We sure are a horse-crazy bunch!
