I definitely see it. She looks just like my old GSD mix right before we had her PTS a couple of years ago. Tessa was the happiest, friendliest, sweetest dog. She never showed any signs of being unhappy or losing the spark, but she was clearly in pain. She'd still try to run and play, and she did pretty well for an older dog, except when her back legs would occasionally collapse. The vet was amazed at how alert and friendly she was, since he told us she must be in a great deal of pain.

Honestly, I didn't notice how bad Tess was getting until I went out of town for a couple of weeks to visit my cousin and her two (younger) dogs. When I got back it hit me really hard that although she was trying, she was just not comfortable anymore.
