That was a good idea, working straight.

Back when I got my mare, I used to show in pleasure shows. Our most frustrating training times were trying to get the right lead. Ack. Eventually, the horse let it be known that she didn't like circle arena work (very sullen and cranky), so we switched to speed events. We also did a lot of trail riding, where she learned to switch on turns & bends in the trail. I stopped worrying about cuing the leads, and once we started doing weaving patterns, she got very good at using both sides. She never did like to be cued into her leads though - she wanted to do it herself.
