yes, I would say that behind a cow would be roping and in front of a cow would be cutting.

The gelding I posted is actually kind of a freak in the fact that he's so freakin' big and has stayed sound under heavy use.

I believe this comes from the fact that he's light on the front end when he pulls a steer... it's all from the hip, no sloppy weight transfer to the front to pull.
