Well, if we're going to move the "keeper" foal subject here...

I can honestly say that if I had it to do all over again, I wouldn't have bred my mare. I really think that I did the best I could, stallion-wise (I didn't have a budget...or a geography restriction, which helped), and that the cross was well thought-out. I have only seen one foal of remotely similar breeding within 500km, and he was sold in utero. Periodically you can find similar horses at our local auctions, but they don't have the records, and they go for a lot of money.

But really, I've learned everything I know about breeding horses in the past 9 months. That's, ummm, not really long enough. I do have good real-life support and resources, but it would have been SOOOO much easier to just buy that OTHER person's next foal in utero. It impacted my mare's training last year, took her out of action for most of this year (we don't ride much in the winter here)...and kind of turned her into a cow.

If the lady at Horsetopia stumbles over here, your mare is very nice-looking, and I'm sorry for raging on you about the "permission" thing. I highly recommend that you hook up with an experienced breeder that you respect (in real life) and become a sponge BEFORE you get your mare knocked up :)
