Well the vet was able to find and accidently burst the absess so I am pretty sure thats what it was. If he is jumped alot he supposedly develops stiffness/lameness in his rear right stifle...but this was obviously in his foot, he had the pulse and everything. The vet looked at his leg for 30 seconds, went and got the hoof testers, and as soon as the applied any pressure pussy blood stuff came trickling out. He got a hoof knife and pared down some sole and you could see a discolored spot where he was sore.

When he first came up lame thats what I assumed...that he had been drugged. But the "owner" was at work when we picked him up and she works in the ER for a 12 hour shift and was getting off shortly after we left so she wouldn't have been able to do it, and her completely non horsey husband was there with us (I was actually surprised that she let us take him without meeting us first).

She is normally really good about taking my advice, but her sister pretty much talked her into him...and no!!! (*you will just have to imagine the crossed fingers*) Don't need another horse!!! I have 2 already, one that totally isn't something I can use (that just cost me a $200 vet bill) and if I do get another I either want to breed my mare, or get a nice warmblood cross. Plus I think Hubby would kill me...
But he would be perfect for my sister that has outgrown all the ponehs
