Yeah, we were balancing things out, but relied mostly on poultry (chicken was the reoccuring one). There just wasn't much available that we could afford. True, were were living in Monterrey, CA when proper dog health was all the buzz with the carmel folk (= jacked prices). I was unemployed and a student and my husband was in a training program for the military, so that had something to do with the lack of affordability. It was just hard to come by 'value' red meats (especially game things) on a regular basis.

I had trouble getting sick with the offal, personally. I can do livers and kidneys, as well as necks and gizzards.. but beef heart, tongue, and any tripe under the sun GAG!

The dog also refused tripe, which I thought was funny.
