Louisville or the surrounding area- Elizabethtown, etc. I do NOT want to be in the downtown (or even really close to downtown area) but it needs to be within a 45-60minute drive. My MIL is moving in with us, and she has to be able to get into town to her doctors.

Absolute necessities-

4BR/2ba or better- can't compromise on that- it's myself + hubs, three kids, MIL and a nanny moving into one house. If there's a barn with an apartment, we'll take it. I'll live in the apartment, sort of.

Must have at least a B school system- I can expand on their education at home, but I need my kids in good schools to start with.

Decent neighborhood- rednecks and poorer economy is fine- drug dealers and high crime rates are not.

Yard for the dog. She is NOT an indoor animal and needs to be able to go outside.

Things we would really like:

Pasture and barn on the property. I can live with a run-in shed for the others, but I need at least one stall/shed with walls that I can put Eianna and the baby in. She's old, baby is a late baby, they need shelter this winter.

A place to ride- or at least a place nearby to ride- we can trail along a short stretch of road to get to a greenway or trails if we have to.

Close enough to go to the store or take the kids out for dinenr and a movie every once in a while without having to do an hour's trek.

I have blankets galore, wraps (yes, I will probably wrap my guys' legs on really, really cold nights), I'll haul boiling kettles down to the barn to defrost water troughs and buckets- but I am NOT leaving my horses behind. Any suggestions for the Florida sun worshipper as to things I should stock up for the frozen north?
