Aliens: Yea, some dogs will eat anything! Doesn't mean they digest it though! Logan ate a box of cream of wheat once. I had left it on the counter. And I mean, the ENTIRE BOX. cardboard and all. I kept looking around to see if I'd stuck it in the fridge, freezer, etc. Then I found the top right corner of the box on the floor in the living room. Never found any other remnants. I'm pretty sure he didnt get any nutrients from that cardboard lol!!! And yesterday Tessa stole my apple. She'll eat ANYTHING (foods though, doesnt eat non edible things like Logan). I first caught her gently taking my apple off my desk and said "Tessa..." and she dropped it. I hadnt eaten it yet a couple hours later when I hear crunching. Look down and Tessa's chowing on my apple. The brat!!
LOL Imgliniel, small world!! We're the same age as well, I'm 22. Thats so great that you feed raw. You should include some RMBs sometimes though for teeth cleaning
The bone in the patties is ground so it provides the calcium (and some phosphorus) but doesnt scrape the teeth clean like crunching up RMBs. You can give some things like chicken wings, parts of cornish game hens. Cats build up plaque and tartar much faster than big dogs. Little dogs are notorious for teeth problems though and are as bad or worse than cats. Thats great that you feed fish oil
I feed double strength fish oil capsules daily. The dogs beg for it as treats and love them. Theres one bad part though, I keep one bottle in the kitchen and one in the bedroom so if I forget I can still give them while being lazy in my room. And my small foster dogs have a harder time chewing them, and I've seen little bits of fish oil squirt out of their mouths onto my bed *gag* Fish oil and a joint formula are the only things I supplement. Fish oil because omega 3's and 6 are so low in grain fed factory farm animals. And the joint formula to my GSDs as large breeds.
For small breeds the premade raw diets are pretty affordable. There are a lot of them out now, including freeze dried raw meals. My fav would have to be Bravo, because they have some thats only meat bone and organ while a lot of others include veggies and supplements.
Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you'll be a mile from them, and you'll have their shoes.
