TILII, like FTFOTB said, you're preaching to the choir.

Yes, De Renzo is a step in the right direction.

And I don't think anybody can expect the whole halter world to change that drastically overnight -- the wheels of stuff like that only turn so fast.

Like I said, Golden Gunslinger started it, De Renzo is another step... I'm curious to see what the next step will be. The DE-evolution of the halter horse, if you will.

I think the halter horse super-craze is past it's peak popularity. The stud fees for halter stallions are way down, comparitively. The stud fee for Mr. Yella Fella, top halter horse sire? $3,500. Same for Kids Classic Style.

The stud fee for top performance sire Invitation Only? $8,500. The stud fee for another top performance sire, Shining Spark? $12,000.

I think that says that the value of a halter horse is WAY down. And it likely also reflects the interest in them -- trying to draw people in to breed more to them by placing their fees so low.

Outcrossing like De Renzo will hopefully bring the halter horse back around. But it's not going to happen overnight. Come on, you've all been in the business a long time -- stuff like this takes YEARS to change.

We need more people speaking out. This country is not overrun with rebels and free thinkers. It's overrun with sheep and conformists. - Bill Maher

The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done. -- George Carlin
