In the photos of the all around QH, why are all the photos showing them butt first? And, whats with the downhill-ness? It seems even the well bred great all around QH are very much downhill. I understand the stock horse isn't trying to be uphill like a warmblood, but shouldn't they be level? Are breeders working for level? Purposefully breeding for downhill? Is the downhill a good thing? My primarily english background makes me think downhill is bad. But I can understand that it could be an asset, in cutting for example. Easier to get down low in the front.

Downhill in a stock horse has been an asset, mainly allowing for greater bursts of speed at short distances. You could say that they're quite opposite of the English discipline horses, where slightly uphill is a benefit (jumping, dressage, etc.).

Personally, I am breeding for a correct horse within the breed type. I don't know anyone purposely breeding for downhill - it comes with the territory, especially in Quarter Horse racing.
