"NoVA (Northern VA = one word...sprawl)."

Ohhh how true! My family lived in Clifton for a couple of years back in the early 90s. Centreville HS was new, and utilizing trailers to fit all the students. Little Rocky Run was the best place for trick-or-treating because the neighborhood was a small country. The neighborhood we moved into, Cavalier Woods, was new, with sprawling fields behind it. When we left the area, the fields behind the neighborhood were gone; replaced by townhouses, a four-lane highway, and a shopping plaza. I still have family in Centreville, and I always get lost - you can't drive by landmarks.

I do have to say despite the sprawl, NoVa is where I learned to ride, as the state promotes, Virginia is for horse lovers.
