I don't know that a level topline is the most important goal for many breeders, but speaking for myself, it is part of the total picture of a correct horse. I can't speak for the goals of other breeders, but I am guessing that they aren't taking that into consideration. In today's specialized world, performance is priority, and whatever creates exceptional performance is what is used. Not all QHs are downhill, so the ones that were closer to level would do much better in the English disciplines. :)
