I've watched my well bred pleasure horses turn on a dime when a dog came shooten out of the grass. I've seen them stop dead in their tracks (actually slide into a dead stop) and spin 180 degrees at another horse when they are play fighting. I've watched many of my yearlings and older haul ass at the fence, do a sliding stop into it, spin around, dig down to china doin a rollback and haul ass off again. The thing is, we don't train them and condition them to do it on a regular basis but it is not like they are completely incapable of doing it.
