Ummmm... actually they were working horses that the cowboys used and then raced for fun when they went to town. They got their name for their ability to run a quarter mile... but they were working horses first an foremost.........

You really do need to do more research on the Quarter Horse origins. The Quarter Horse was a race horse first and they (the race horses) were taken west as the settlers moved west and then used for everything including general ranch work with race on the weekends.

I did the research.. thanks! Clear back to the 1600's. They were a WORKING horse (pulling a plow, pulling a wagon, riding). After their work was done for the day, their owners would take them to town to run in races that were a quarter mile.

NOT the other way around!

Never argue with an idiot..... they drag you down to their level and then beat you up with experience!!!

Stupid should be painful!
