So, why are the foundation registries so dead-set against even N/N Impressive horses, and are sending the message of 'It's not a big deal' to folks about testing their Poco Bueno horses?
==========================================

I think the only Foundation group that is against Impressive is the FQHR.

When that group came into being was at the height of the HYPP scare. They just nixed all Impressive blood because they decided to have nothing to do with a horse with such a devastating disease in his genes. It was easier for them to take a stand of not letting ANY Impressive blood in their new association. I also think that the testing was just starting to be made available.

When HERDA first came to light, the FQHR was just POSITIVE that it was a ploy be AQHA to discredit the FQHR because of the stance they took on Impressive and the FQHR believed that they were hurting AQHA by offering a new venue for horses where expensive tack and clothing was against the rules. I think that they honestly believed HERDA was a "made up" thing at first.

The breeders of Poco Bueno horses were a HUGE part of the FQHR member base. If you looked at their magazine back then, a majority of the classifieds were selling high percentage Poco Bueno bred horses. They couldn't very well cut off their nose to spite their face where Poco Bueno was concerned.

I have no idea what they are doing about the HERDA issue now.
