Had to get in on this one, even though I'm not a conformation guru. I love his mane. I'm a sucker for fjords. There are two in our fox hunting group and they're amazing jumpers! Of course, as a cross bred yours has legs that are a bit longer.
Just to throw my two cents on whether or not you'd make it in the 'A' circuit hunters with him. I can speak for the southeast and say, you won't place at any of the 'A' circuit shows around here unless you have the things panda mentioned above. It doesn't have a whit to do with how good you are, or how good your horse is. Placing in those hunt classes has to do with how much money you have and who you are. They'll still let you pay an entry fee and have your turn in the ring all you like, but I'll be more than amazed if you end up pinning.
I have a friend who is a BEAUTIFUL rider. She's one of those naturally perfect hunters that will make you green with envy. Her family doesn't have a lot of money and she has always worked very hard to maintain a horse to show. She showed the 'A' circuit for years, hands down beating everyone in the class, which their high paid trainers admitted to and commented on and could not break into pinning to save her life. When she showed at non-political shows, and dropped the 'A' circuit crowd, she cleaned up in the ribbons and won numerous high point awards.
Hunters, are unfortunately very political. If you have the right connections - by all means! If you just want to have fun, I wouldn't worry about it either way.
