The last portion of this thread prompted me to make an attempt to actually like the Foundation Quarter Horse. I have spent the last hour looking up Foundation Quarter Horse stallions and show horses. I have not found one that, in my opinion, came even close to say .. Berry Cool ... for example. As FTFOTB mentioned, they almost all had straight shoulders, short hips, low neck sets, heavy forehands and thick throatlatches. I also saw a lot of high hocks and not very refined heads (not that you ride the head, I know, I know).

I want to reiterate, that I was setting out with a positive mindset. I figured that I had probably just seen a lot of the lower end FQH's. I'm sure there are some nicer ones out there, but I'm not sure I saw any tonight.

That last palomino colt wouldn't place in an open show here. I'm not talking about being shown with the current halter 'chunks', either. He has a low set neck, short hip, weak loin, high hocks, thick throatlatch and his head is lacking refinement. He just does not say, "Look at me!" in any way shape or form.
