We've touched on this before, but I disagree to a point on the thick throat. It can make it difficult for a horse to "collect" itself if they have a throat that is thick or if they don't have enough "room" between bony structures in the jaw and neck to flex. I also don't care for a tiny throat for the reason you've given.
