Ok, you guys are giving me hope. Here's my husband story...
Husband hasn't had much to do with horses (or farm animals) his entire life. He knew I was a 'rider' and 'horse person' when we were married - but it was kind of a hasty arrangement (but fun!) and I don't think he really appreciated the strength of those labels. Well, He had to leave a lot because he was always over in the middle east, so he never was fully aware of my 'affliction'. Anyway, problem one: Somewhere along the eastern boarder of Afghanistan he met a donkey. THat donkey was (and I tell him this all the time) treated like any other donkey in the third world. Seeing as how donkeys have GREAT memories, are very smart, and generally hate being mistreated that donkey planned an ambush for the unsuspecting victim. When he was in range, the donkey let him have it, right in the gut, both back legs-a-kickin'. Hubbys vest didn't seem to be in the right place at the right time. *Sigh*

Problem two: It also hasn't helped that he has really wanted to 'share' my love, and has sought out trail riding facilities whenever we go on vacation. He ALWAYS ends up with the worst horse, that reads him like a book. THe last one tried scraping him off on any available tree, and I finally stopped the ride (the guide sucked) and made Hubby switch horses with me.

Yet he "endeavours to persevere". I think that's the best way to describe it. I'm hoping, really hoping, that we will find good horse for myself, or even a good riding facility, that will inspire him to 'hop on' for a ride. I can't imagine anyone NOT being hooked, but I do worry...

Anyway, my donkey rehab has been working, I casually show him youtubes of cute baby donkeys and he is starting to erase the memory of the first one he met
