The best way to check if it is worms may be to put the faeces through a strainer, rinse, and then place in a jar of water. Worms will come to a point and be more opaque.

Also it is not very cold anywhere in Australia right now. It is comming out of summer. So although some horses are losing a little hair, and brining through a bit more coat because the days are getting shorter. He should not really be losing that much, as he should never has that much to begin with.

If he did have a bit of a heavy coat, perhaps he did have a bit of a worm burden. If you have drenched him, he may be shedding a little.

If he is chewing the hair rather than spitting it out as most horses would do, perhaps he may have a deficiency in something.

Maybe he is just a weirdo with a fetish, who knows.
