My experience with them is that they are hypersensitive, spook easily, high strung, have trust issues and are somewhat difficult to handle at times. But ... on the bright side - IF (and it is sometimes a big "if") they are handled correctly, they train well and are nice horses. The key to them is no rough stuff. They need a firm, but GENTLE hand. They're the kind of horse that you can't beat into submission. You have to make them WANT to work for you. If they don't want to, you'll have a fight on your hands.
His current owner has been pretty up front with me about his sensitivity and she said basically word for word what you've said here. I was wondering if it was a bloodline thing and am glad to hear it from an outsider.
