cowgril4him....I checked the picture (yes I remember this mare vividly, omg!) and no this is not what we have going on. There is an area about the size of two quarters, right on the "lower lips" of the vulva-the part that moves when they wink.

I have no signs of infection-no fever at all. It is obviously either vaginal discharge, or from the urine itself. She is eating with gusto, drinks, has bm's, urinates normally in all respects. She does have some "crusties" on her rear legs due to my misjudgement on how much oil she could handle (now established at 1 and a half cups per day-two is too much) and too, she had to endure a big diet change from what Animal Control was feeding, over to my recovery program. They weren't even weighing the hay-argh. I know to the pound, pretty much, what she is consuming in one 24 hour period.

And I have seen and dealt with recovery horses whose !%$# is sunken inwards so far that the manure balls brush the vulva too...so I know what you mean by that. That isn't happening here, what is expelled is clearing the area.

Today AC does a follow up visit, and I will be taking my once a week pictures....will snap one of the discharge also. It was so odd that I did not attempt to wipe it off.
