I have cats my whole life (Indoor and outdoor) and never had any of them declawed. We trim our indoor cats nails. My brother gets the caps for his cats claws I think declawing should be a last resort if everything else has been tried to get the cat scratching and it's a matter of life or death for the cat.

Side note: I brought a dog to a new vet for an emergency awhile back because my regular vet couldn't see him, and this new vet proudly announced that if we had cats that needed to be declawed, they now do the surgery my laser... does anyone know anything about this? is it less cruel that the traditional declawing? I'm not going to declaw my cats, I was just curious.
