My front declawed cats didn't show any aggression, didn't have littler box issues and were quite happy as far as cats go. When my mom and I got the cats, declawing was the only way my dad would allow it, so we did. They were done young, and it was done along with their spay, so they recovered from everything all at once and were back to normal as soon as the stitches came out. Cats were fine and everybody was happy.

About 10 years ago, declawing was de regure in many suburban and urban American households. All my friends who had cats had them declawed. That doesn't make it right or good, but that was the norm. And that's why you'll see people still doing it, b/c that's what their cats were like growing up.
