One could also argue spaying is inhumane. A spay is serious abdominal surgery, and women who've had the equivalent say it's no picnic. So is it wrong to spay?

Why is my cat spayed anyway? "She might run outside and get preggo." Not likely, she hates the outdoors. "It's better to do it while they're young." I plan to keep her forever, and she'll forever be an indoor kitty, so that doesn't matter too much. "All pet quality animals should be spayed." Says who? It's my pet, and I don't ever plan on breeding her. I don't plan on having kids either, so should I get spayed?

"She'll come into heat and be super irritating once a month." Bingo! My cat is spayed for my convenience. I put her through likely horrible, invasive abdominal surgery that will change her life forever and deprive her of her natural hormones simply for my convenience.

There are certain things we do to our animals that any hysterical person could label is "inhumane". You can even argue that selective breeding is inhumane b/c of the defects we've bred into nearly all of our domesticated animals.
