I also would bring in my young horses when I brought in my mare to ride, tie them up, brush both horses, pick out feet (pre-ride grooming), saddle the mare, saddle the young one (with a pad first and an English saddle when they were older yearlings), unsaddle the young one, do a 'post-ride grooming', and then turn them back out while I went out for a ride on my mare.

ETA: No, this didn't happen with Justin (in case anyone is wondering about inconsistencies in my stories), because I was living 300 miles away from him from his age of 3 months to 3 years. I only saw him sporadically over those 3 years. And that sucked.
