***HELP!** For later reference.. I will get you pics of his bucks, but is it best to wrap bucks for work or leave them be? I have always dealt with bows..

With his body condition, bone changes in his cannons, his feet issues as well as the fact he has just finished racing. I personally would let this guy have at least 6 months on pasture with no work, for both his physical and metal health.

If his feet are as bad as you say they are, he will need a fair bit of foot rehab, sounds like he may always be flat footed, why risk making him even more sore and sour. Why not give him a fresh start.

I agree. I have a friend who makes her living re-habbing and training OTTB's and reselling them. She gives every horse 6 months off on pasture-- some a year or more before starting to work with them (aside from basic handling/vet care/farrier care, etc.) to just let them unwind, learn to be a horse, and let their bodies recover. She swears it pays off in the end-- the time off makes any work you do after that go so much faster you actually come out ahead.

This guy needs time more than anything.

I like him. He's a handsome boy.
