RIW,
Hubby has to go back to Denver next month for a 2 week class so the kids and I will trek out for the weekend. I want to take them to the zoo for a day. Any special things you can share with me? You know like, don't eat here it's way expensive and not good, eat at so and so's little cart by the monkeys? image
The food at all the stands is pretty universal. Definitely check out when the "creature features" are for that day- great for kids! They get to see the animals up close, sometimes pet them and such. The Lorikeet Adventure is very sweet. Here's a link to the feedings and showtimes- http://denverzoo.org/visitors/feedings.asp

The kids might like the Botanic Gardens right now. They're doing a "Jurassic Gardens" theme that is great for kids. Life-size, beautifully detailed sculptures of lots of dinosaurs to be found around the gardens with info plaques and such. The kids I saw there this weekend had a ball. http://www.botanicgardens...jurassic-gardens-exhibit

here's some pics I took-

There's even some in the tropical dome that's indoors. I've had fun with kids I've babysat there, making a game to see who can find the most bromeliads and orchids that are hitchhiking on other plants. Their Dendrobium Orchids are in full bloom right now, and smell wonderful!
here's a peak in there-
