I hope the survival instinct of these horses kicks in and prevails before something serious happens to any of them.

I mean, who would consider racing a horse in which you know nothing about it's: condition, training, temperament, stamina, weaknesses, strengths?

Endurance implies both members of the team, both horse AND rider, have trained for and are prepared for the event, with the intent of actually surviving. It does not appear the well being of ALL horses are considered, otherwise why would each rider need so many? Concern for their well being would mean that food and water would NOT be an obstacle, as mentioned above, not even for the horses....thoroughly disgusting.

It's a thousand kilometers, with horse changes every 40 kilometers? That's 25 horses per rider. .62 miles per each kilometer = 24.8 miles per horse. I'm sure NO horses will ever be pushed at any time during their 40 k to reach the riders "next fresh horse". And I'm sure no abuse will take place towards horses that are lacking training or conditioning.

Sickening.

Use your talents, that's what they are intended for.....
