She has a fat grass belly yet is ribby, which is telling me she isn't getting what she needs from the grass. She is overeating during her grazing at night and getting a fat grass belly, but not getting the nutrients she needs--that's why she keeps eating so much grass. She's not an easy keeper if ribs are showing. Some grain should fix that, and it doesn't need to be anything fancy, just something like co-op 11%. She might need some minerals, depending where you live. Also, having a fat belly with ribs showing can mean worms. I would put her on an aggressive deworming program, using Zimectrin Gold. You can also do a PowerPak first, then wait four weeks, and start on the Zimectrin Gold. I have found that program works wonders in getting good growth spurts in my yearlings and taking them from that "dulled" look to being bright eyed and engaged in what is going on around them. She has plenty of time to grow, but needs the proper nutrition.

The pics are really hard to see anything in conformation, and I'm not really qualified to assess this breed. But some good nutrition and deworming, some good exercise, and she should turn out to hopefully be very solid and hopefully a pretty color as well.

Does she have a pasture mate that she runs around with, where she can kick up her heels and do all the fun and silly things that yearlings do that keep them emotionally healthy? Or does she just graze? I've found that my yearlings do well with a good pasture buddy that they can play with. If none of the other horses are good pasture buddies, maybe you can start doing some light leading and lunging, over some obstacles, and get her mind engaged. She looks a little "dulled," but lots of yearlings look that way and turn around just fine.

One of my yearlings has had this hang-dog look for the last couple of months; we thought it was because her pasture buddy went to training, but had the equine dentist out and her wolf teeth had alreay protruded through the skin. She has been much happier since we got the wolf teeth out. And she is young, just a month or two older than yours.
