Sorry to hear, but glad you both will be okay.

A suggestion from way too much personal experience--take a pain pill at bedtime. If they're the 4- or 6-hour kind, grind another one up and mix with peanut butter, smear on a piece of bread, and put it and a glass of water on your bedside table (yep, peanut butter & Vicodin sandwich ;-). Pain that's manageable during the day will keep you up at night, and your body needs sleep to heal.

Beyond that, manage yourself like you would a horse with a similar injury. Ice 20 min per hour, light compression, and "stall rest" aka a couple of days on the couch with your leg up. I know that may be hard to handle emotionally, but it really will speed up your recovery. Once it's cool and no longer throbbing you can gradually start moving and using it.
