Thanks for all the info, Appy. The moment she bends or aims in the right direction, the pressure is released as a reward. I don't jerk or crank on her and she's very responsive to light touch. The hackamore I'm using is leather all around with a padded noseband. I was flipping through a magazine for western tack and couldn't find any hackamores without huge leverage, so I was wondering about it.

I'm not really having bit issues, I'm just swaying with whatever the horse likes best. Since she's mine and I'm not training her for someone else, I don't have to mold her into a bit if she doesn't take to it. I can just see what she likes better and go with that. I'm pretty flexible with both disciplines and just want to keep her happy.

Thanks for the reassurance, TRD

You're welcome.

If she works well then that's great, but I would still try a sidepull and see if that works better. A sidepull is the bitless equivalent to a snaffle.
