I, personally, would get a second opinion. My sister had a problem where she broken her leg in two places and one doctor made her wait an week and a half to do anything. She didn't need surgery, he said, but he didn't want to cast her. He had dealt with my broken arm before so we trusted him. Turns out, we were wrong and she will forever be a little "off" because of it :-P Her sports doctor said it could have been fixed much better.

Since it is his jaw, it really is even MORE important to get a second opinon. Find a good ortho and go there! Good luck to you. I love the "take ibuprofen" route. Since when has that worked when it is THAT painful?
