See, I didn't know that about them usually being for show. I just heard that its easier for the horse to be responsive while neck reining because they can feel the reins on their necks better.

Ive tried two pairs of nylon reins and two pairs of leather reins and I'm not really happy with any of them.

I usually ride with gloves, so I didn't think the scratchiness would bother me.


Teach her to neck rein. Getting horsehair reins (or any type of rein) is not going to "help" her learn. Teach her to neck rein and it won't matter what you put against her neck, she'll move away from it no matter what touch her with.
