While I do not think the blame lies completely with the dog here... it obviously needs to be rehomed. If it were my dog, and God forbid something like this happened, I would certainly want it euth'd. JUST in case - you can never guarantee anything with a rehome. And I can't imagine how the emotional process would go to allow the dog to continue to live in my home with my children, regardless of whose fault it was.

I have a german shepherd and a mini aussie... my mini aussie would probably lick a baby to death but I have no doubt that, if left in a spot where she could get it, my gsd would carry a baby back to her crate. She probably would not rough it up, but she likes to horde things and once tried to drag a baby goat into her crate.
