DO establish boundaries with your roomie. My freshman year was amazing because my roommate and I were very close. YES YOU CAN BE FRIENDS WITH YOUR ROOMMATE. Just establish that there is a point where you can sit in a room and not talk and not have it be awkward. Likewise, you can break silence with hilarious, random things and both laugh about it.

Or she can tell you that gays and abortion are what's wrong with America - even though she'd been in America all of 3 months? That was great. I think we scared people with that argument. She was great though - I'm sad she ended up turning into the person she did. She got so shallow.

Also - your friends freshman year - you do not need to be friends with them again later. I jumped from one clique to another and the freshman year group was so very hurt by it. It was very akward.
