^ I really don't understand the tack snobbery unless you're at a show or something, where having matching, decent quality tack is part of the point.

If the tack fits the horse and is well cared for, it matters little to me what the color is or what it's made out of.

I've been the chick riding bareback in the cobbled together bridle (not hemp, but not matching parts either) and I gotten some great looks from people. It didn't help that I'm 5'11" and ride a 14.2h horse. What amused me the most is that some of the people staring down their noses at me were the very same people who were terrified of their big, beautiful "real" horses and couldn't even canter.
