Ha, not a sign that they have had it a long time? My black velvet hat is prpley in some places from fading in the sun. It's probably about 4 years old now though.
I should rephrase that - I mean they stick out as someone who is a newb to dressage. A little faded is alright, but the dusty brown look just doesn't complete the clean polished picture. I am not a fan of troxels in the show ring either.

One more thing - polished boots are a must! I HATE dirty boots - looks careless

Oh yeah, totally agree. Mine still comes up nice and black with steaming but if it didn't I'd get a new one for my dressage .
