I'm super guilty of making assumptions about the rider based on the horse. Like, if the horse is a dirrrttty stopper or otherwise extremely difficult, I know the rider is great.
Um, this is the worst one, so don't hate me more than you already do, but I totally think any rider on a QH looking horse is a clueless newb. For example, one show I remember turning to my trainer and saying "Oh, God, this is going to be interesting" as soon as this chick on a QH-y palomino entered the ring. It WAS interesting, the horse was a saint, but it was a terrifying course, poles everywhere and the chick was RUNNING to get some of the strides (LOL, I left out nicely on one of my trips that day too, :P ). It's not all QHs either, it has to do with how the rider sits on the horse/fits the horse and the horse's conformation. Like, this chick was sort of upright, was waaaay too big for the horse, and had a helmet I didn't recognize. The horse had a QH head and, besides the palomino thing, you could tell just from it's ass that it was a QH.
