I wanted to update you all on my trailering issue. You guys are geniuses! Turns out that the trailer had two major problems that were not visible in any way to the eye and that didn't show up before--a spring has begun to fail, not catastrophically, but definitely needs replacing, and one of the brakes in the wheels had seized up over the winter, probably because of the terrible weather, etc. So, the trailer was riding incorrectly.

My mare sensed all was not well, as some of you surmised, and because she's also a genius, she was telling us in the only way she knew how--by saying no way to loading. We're waiting for the spring to come in, but the brake issue has been resolved. My husband says he can tell the difference too.

In other news, I drove the truck and trailer for the first time in our field. It was empty, of course, but I'm going to master the fine art of driving a horse trailer this summer! I want to be self-sufficient, dammit. First, though, we have to get my mare to believe that the trailer is not a death-trap any longer. The saga will continue later....
