I think it is not just an assumption that people who enjoy superficial attention tend to ride loudly colored horses. I think it can be very true and I can bring to mind several examples of people in my trail club who are attention whores.

It pisses me off, because I do not fall into that category even though my horse is an absolutely ridiculous color. She is perfect for me and I have grown fond of the spots....but I do not like complete strangers zeroing in on me or my horse while camping.

I miss riding my old bay and gray. image
See, I love luridly colored horses, but for my own enjoyment, not to get attention from others. My horse does attract people b/c she's cute and spotted, but I adore the spots so it doesn't bother me too much. And of course, I love hearing how much people like my horse. image

I enjoy decorating things and making them "mine". For instance, my truck is covered in bumperstickers and my computer has a few on it too. Since my horse is spotted, she's already distinctive and "decorated". Suits me perfectly!

Luckily for me on the last camp trip there was a leopard Appy with HUGE black spots all over him, so his owner got the curious lookers instead of me!
