I am not against bits, IF they are used properly. However, I do not use one, I make my own bosals and headstalls. I have looked at a few bitless bridles, and I am not so sure I like those either.

Why I don't like bits -
I hate warming them up in the winter. If I ride in the winter with bosals, it only makes sense to ride year round in one.
I know I am hard handed, I rode a lot of horses with mouths like iron. We took in spoiled horses for re training, and most of those had horrible mouths, so we used bosals on them. It may be dumb, but I find I am lighter handed riding with bosals.
I have more control over how severe the bosal is with a quick adjustment, with a bit there is less control over that, without changing the bit.
I do trail riding and it is so annoying to have to pack halters and lead shanks, I can just step off and tie my horse up.
When I need my horse to ground tie, I do not have to worry about them stepping on a line and breaking the line or the bit.
