I prefer barefoot, but in no way, are all horses able to go barefoot. I am very lucky, my horses have feet like iron. I get so pissed at those that are fanatical about all horses being barefoot. We raised horses that were fine bare, and some that had to have shoes. These horses were all on the same terrain, and had the same hoof care. We had 2 full sisters, one had feet like chalk and one had feet like iron, both had white feet.
I am also really tired of the wild horse aspect of this argument. Yes, they have harder feet, and no, you don't often see a lame wild horse, DUH!! that is because they became lunch for a predator.
I got into this on another board, and was told that horses have no natural predators, and that wild horses never go lame, or step in holes and so on. I guess they live forever. I wonder if this guy went and told the cougars, bears, and wolves that they could not eat horses lol. His argument was that humans created all the hoof problems, and that any horse born wild had perfect feet. There was no convincing him that if it did not have good feet, it died!!
I am over my rant now! Sorry lol.
