I care for a herd of about 30; some are mine, some are friends' horses. A few are windsuckers (wear collars), one is a stall weaver (has reduced in frequency since I got her), one is crippled due to injury as weanling (with a super duper pedigree that would have put her way out of my reach if she were sound).

Yep, I'm living the dream.

I know this sounds terrible, but I can't stand to have a horse around that isn't pretty. By pretty, I mean conformational correctness and good breed type. None of them are perfect, so yeah, I have a bunch of imperfect horses. But if they have inherited conformational issues that make them unusable, they aren't pretty.

I can't stand over-the-top spookiness either.

I've encountered, in my training, some client horses with such issues as:

* Extremely well bred mare from Big Important Ranch that beat herself up with her hind feet. Extremely 'cute' mare but worthless to ride. I haven't been impressed with anything descended from (Fabuloso roping show horse) ever since.
* Butt ugly as could be gelding linebred from Big Important Ranch that had each leg pointing a different direction. The horse had a super temperament, but damn!
* Spooky as sh*t Gypsy Vanner filly that woke up in a new world every day. She was adorable to look at but didn't carry what she learned from one day to the next.
* Fancy dancy halter bred filly with Hunter build--very pretty and correct -- except for a head that was too small to hold brains. Extremely spooky, huge motor.
