When I was getting ready to have our two geldings at home at the end of September last year, I, too felt like a new mother. I was worried that I would not have something I needed, like emergency supplies. I got on the internet and found lists of what people keep on hand, like wound powder and such. Valley Vet and such places will overnight your order. Once you have the vet over and are assured you can call him/her in the event of an emergency you'll feel lots better. Good luck and happy horsekeeping. There's nothing like 20 minutes spent brushing your horse to add pleasure to your day. I love having them near the house -- seeing them through the windows and all. It has all worked out well. there have been a couple of escapes, but no harm, no foul. Once we were so tired we left one of the gates open! They lazily grazed their way to the neighbor's front yard. By the way, some of our members are sponsoring a year end award for most colorful recapture of escaped horses with extra points for bare feet, pajamas, curlers, etc. They will get out. It & you will be okay when they do!! Take a bucket of feed with you and they'll follow you home!!
