Hey Erie,
My filly is only a baby still, but she had been pretty much entirely unhandled when she arrived home. She had no idea we might give her food, so had no reason to really want to come to us. With your lady being already food oriented, you shouldn't have too much trouble. I kept her separate from the herd here for a month (which drove her crazy because you could tell she wanted to be out there with them, but quarantine must be got through, so... I'm cruel I know!
But my point was: I was worried I wouldn't be able to catch her once she was out in the field with the others. I worked on making sure I spent enough time out there that I could go in and out of the pastures a few times a day, bringing treats and carrying a halter and lead line, and made friends with all the horses. If they get the idea they don't necessarily have to come in once they see you, they tend to be a lot easier to catch and not quite so silly. I'd put the hatler and lead on her and just leave it for a few minutes while she grazed, then take it off (short lead, though!). You can eventually work up to getting her to come when you call. Call her name, give her a treat if she comes, even if it is only a few steps, pet her and let her go. Eventually she will realise good thngs happen when you call. Also see if the barn owner won't let you come down and do her evening feed a few times a week. It really helps if you call her in from the field and she gets her dinner then gets to go out again!
You can even just work on the "come when called" trick in the roundpen first so she can't really run off and leave you behind like they can in a huge field! It doesn't always work, but meh! Half the time is better than none! Good luck! And I am sure your horse will be happy. My girl really hates it indoors now that she is used to being out all the time. She got used to being stalled for about a month, and I thought she might be prissy and hate the outdoors, but she is so happy having a herd.
