The bosals I make are made from bicycle chain then wrapped in tape, then sheepskin or soft leather. If needed, I just take the sheepskin off. I like them as they are still flexible. I have made them from lariat's as well, and like them too, I just find chain easier to work with. I hate the rawhide bosals.

I already went and found an old rope to try this with ha ha. Now I just need to make a trip to my welder to get some pieces made.

lol...I weld too...also redesign my bit's & make kinda what you'd call a shanked sidepull. I love experimenting with bits I make.

The easy parts the welding, getting those little pieces of metal to stay right where you want them is H.e.l.l. sometimes, as my clamps are too big & usually I just try to lean sometime on it to hold till I get a spot weld...image
